Designed and owned by famed architect Sim Van Der Ryn, Highland House represents a perfect synthesis of East and West. The flowing curves of nature join with the linear aspects of the house to form a perfect retreat. Three bedrooms grace the Main House, built in 1972. Each room has its own distinctive style while they provide for comfort. |

Built in 1990, the Great Room was conceived in the Iramoya country Japanese style. It contains the kitchen and dining areas. Sliding glass doors frame a view of the sun- drenched patio and luminous garden. Indoor amenities abound, and include a vintage stereo, books, a woodstove, and treasure from our travels. |

Highland House is situated on five acres of forest, meadow, and gardens at the end of a road surrounded by nature conservancy and parkland. Outdoor amenities include a large, sunny terrace, secluded hottub in the garden, and a bocce ball court. The gardens are filled with flowering fruit trees, roses, and lush grassy areas. There is a fish pond and many calming water features. |
